From the Vanderbilt News Desk – Vanderbilt University continues to influence how we perceive outer space.

Announced in November, Stevenson Professor of Physics and Astronomy, professor of computer science, and founding director of the Vanderbilt Initiative in Data-Intensive Astrophysics Keivan Stassun contributed to predictive U.S. research of the stars. Stassuns’s research will help steer American study of space for the next decade. Stassun served on the steering committee of the Decadal Survey on Astronomy and Astro 2020 (Astro2020). The outlook of Astro2020 determines how billions of dollars will be invested in particular areas of scientific study. Astro2020 was sponsored by NASA, National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Energy, and U.S. Air Force.
